Must admit, was somewhat concerned about the Titans picking up another QB in Nick Stevens, and that providing more competition for Rusty. But looks like "so far so good", with Smith being likened to an encyclopedia for his knowledge of the playbook; something which has Offensive Coordinator Chris Palmer calling him ahead for the third QB spot:

I just hope that the next time he gets a shot for some actual gametime, Rusty is able to really impress and move up. I can't imagine him spending the next decade riding the pine.

I get that guys at that level don't want to ride the pine but a 10 year career in the nfl as a practice squad qb is awesome! $400k per year playing the game you love ain't half bad.

Being the 3rd string QB is probably one of the best jobs in sports. I'd gladly sit on the sidelines for 10-15 years being a 3rd string making a few hundred thousand a year and never having to worry about health problems from football related injuries in the future.

Save your money and maybe invest wisely and they could probably retire and live a comfortable life by the time they're 35

It's good to hear that he is still competing and giving it his all.  I'm sure he really wants to play, as all guys at that level are competitors, but I agree, a 3rd string gig is a pretty sweet deal, sure beats the 9-5 grind.

Plus, if Jeff Ireland is still running things for the fins, wait 10 years and he will be the QB for miami

one has to think rusty's been working is a$$ off to be trusted with the ball. he's got all the weapons, just has to tune them.

Rusty needs to go to a team that can utilize him.  Tennessee only gave him one shot--during the worst soap opera of a season.  How can you expect a rookie to come in and save the season?

I'm happy you are hanging-on Rusty, however hopefully soon you can shop your talent elsewhere....
