just a verbal, but it's a start.

All anyone has right now is verbals, signing day is still over 7 months away.

 Understood. At this stage of the process, a verbal is just an insurance policy where the recruit is hopeful something better comes along down the road.  He can decommit any time he wants.  FAU cannot.

A signed NLOI is something to get excited about as the player is a lock.  Agreed, at this stage of the game even Big 6 schools aren't getting signees unless it's the kid's dream school.

For us, part of it is getting the kids on campus during a home game and that will come later in the season. A lot of these eventual-commits say things like, "I had no idea that FAU had such a nice stadium." And granted, we've only had the stadium for a year, but the point is that we may be losing out on guys based upon their misinterpretation of what we offer.

It's not just football recruits, actually... even regular high school seniors will leave campus after a tour and say, "I had no idea that FAU's campus was so big and nice."

I love the fact its a northern Florida kid. If he stays committed to us, it helps us more.
