FAU MBB lands Oregon State transfer Maxim Logue via transfer portal

FAU Men’s basketball’s front court found success across the board last season and in year 2 Owls Coach John Jakus will look to keep that the same, as sources confirmed to FAU Owls Nest on Wednesday that FAU landed a commit from Oregon State Transfer, 6’9 F Maxim Logue.

Logue, a native of Lyon, France will be a rising sophomore next season and played in 21 games this past year for Oregon State, averaging 2.9 PPG and 2.0 RPG, while converting 64.9% of his shots from the field. His biggest role of the season came in the final game of the year in the CBB Crown tournament, where he recorded 18 points and 10 rebounds, also hitting 6 of his 7 free throws in 24 minutes of action.

Fitting in the trend with FAU recruits, Logue has extensive overseas experience, having played in 3 FIBA basketball tournaments for France, U16, U17 and U18, while also playing for Paris Basketball in LNB Pro A, the top French league. Although Logue didn’t play much in his freshman year at Oregon State, he did have the aforementioned 18 points against UCF and another 10 point performance against Gonzaga and his extensive overseas experience should allow him to increase his playing time next season at FAU without issue.

With the departure of the daunted front court trio of Tre Carroll, Matas Vokietaitis and Kaleb Glenn, Jakus and co had to move quickly to find talent to replace what was lost and Logue comes in with an immense amount of potential that the FAU staff will look to develop.

Logue will be an intriguing addition to the front court, as although he won’t have the shooting FAU had with of Kaleb Glenn and Tre Carroll, he’s extremely athletic with an ability to use that athleticism while handling the ball, something that could make him tough for defenders to pick up in transition. On the defensive side of things, Logue is able to use that athleticism to defend at the rim and block shots and if his game develops as planned this offseason, he will be contributor on both ends of the court for FAU.

Now with the addition of Logue, FAU sits at 7 open scholarships with the departures of Ken Evans Jr (Graduation), Kyky Tandy (Graduation), Kaleb Glenn (Portal), Matas Vokietaitis (Portal), Tre Carroll (Portal), Leland Walker (Portal), Jack Johnson (Portal) and Jakel Powell (Portal).
