Florida Atlantic Football lands former UTEP cornerback Terez Reid via transfer portal

The transfer portal additions keep on rolling for FAU Football and on Friday afternoon they made an addition to their DB room. Former UTEP cornerback and 3-star recruit Terez Reid announced he will be spending his 4th season of collegiate football in Boca Raton.

The 5 ’10 180 pound rising senior spent the first 3 seasons of his collegiate career at Grand Valley State University, a Division 2 school in Allendale Michigan, where this past season he played in all 13 games, recording 7 pass breakups and 3 interceptions, along with 19 tackles. He has been a consistent contributor in all 3 seasons at GVSU, playing in 13 games in all 3 seasons, recording 95 total tackles, 5.5 for loss, 4 interceptions and 22 passes defended for his career.

Following a successful junior year at Grand Valley, Reid opted to transfer to UTEP, where he participated in Spring Ball for the Miners before opting to enter the transfer portal on April 17th. Reid made a visit to FAU earlier this week and ultimately committed on Friday, noting that the way he was treated was something that made him want to commit.

“The area was definitely lovely and the coaching staff and people were very welcoming on my visit,” Reid said.

Reid brings an immense amount of experience to the Owls CB room, having played in 39 games across 3 seasons, spending most of that as an outside corner. Despite not having the prototypical size of an outside corner, Reid makes up for that with physicality and a knack for the football, with 21 PBUs throughout his GVSU career.

The Owls CB room will have some open jobs, with Derrick “Dooda” Rogers, Cam Goggins and Lawrence Johnson being the main competitors for the outside corner spots, so with a strong summer and fall, Reid will potentially have a chance to earn himself a starting role.
