Scheffler collects tenth home run The weather looked uncooperative early on, but Florida Atlantic (19-14, 9-6) tied a season-high three home runs knocking off Lynn University, last season’s NCAA Division II champions, 7-4 on Tuesday night. “Overall, not a bad night”, said FAU coach John McCormack. “You just want to come away with a win.” After trailing 1-0 early on, Dan Scheffler hit a two-run shot in the bottom of the first to put the Owls on top 2-1. The Fighting Knights (11-29-1, 1-11) would answer with a three run second inning, thanks to a two-run home run from Jackson Harris, to lead 4-2. The Owls closed the gap after Andrew Church scored on a wild pitch in the bottom of the third. A solo homer by Nick DelGuidice in the fourth notched things up at 4-4 until Church connected for a double, extending his hitting streak to nine games, and scoring Nathan Pittman to give FAU a 5-4 lead. Scheffler, who was 2-for-2 with four RBI, accounted for the last two runs on the night when he drove home Andy Mee with his second home run in the bottom half of the fifth. Scheffler leads the Owls with 10 homers on the season. Hugh Adams, who was highly effective with a four inning performance that yielded just four hits, picked up the win. Mee added his sixth save of the year, as FAU improved to 12-7 at home. The Owls will next host the #20 Hilltoppers of Western Kentucky in a three game Sun Belt series beginning Friday at 6:30 p.m. Box Score Discussion
