The Florida Atlantic University mens soccer team earned a hard-fought scoreless draw against in-state rival USF on Wednesday night at the FAU Soccer Stadium. The Owls (2-5-2) were led on offense by Rocco Pecora who tallied three shots. one of those shots came during the first overtime period off a beautiful cross from teammate Darnell King. Pecora receieved the pass just outside the 18-yard box and ripped a hard shot that just missed the top corner. Despite 21 total shots in the game, only seven of them found the target as stiff wind gusts throughout the evening made generating offense difficult for both sides. The Knights (6-2-2) received a balanced attack and compiled five shots on target from five different players. James McCormick got the start in net for FAU and recorded five saves, two of them coming in the overtime period. Jeff Attinella made the start in net for USF and tallied two saves. The Owls and Bulls have met 14 times prior to Wednesday nights meeting. FAU is now 3-10-2 all-time against USF. FAU will continue their home stand on Saturday when they welcome another in-state rival, FIU to Boca Raton. Opening kick is set for 7 p.m. at the FAU Soccer Stadium.
