Golden Panthers Win on Walkoff Homerun The Florida Atlantic softball team lost to rival FIU 3-2 on Wednesday night in the bottom of the seventh inning. The Golden Panthers (26-15, 8-5) loaded the bases with none out in the third inning, and scored on a sacrifice fly and RBI single by Jennifer Gniadek to take a 2-0 lead. FAU still trailed 2-0 in the top of the seventh inning when Kerri Croney led off the inning with a triple to left. After a Blair Bodenmiller groundout, Jessica Myers slapped an infield single that scored Croney. Myers advanced to second on a FIU throwing error, then advanced to third on a passed ball. Rose Gressley struck out for the second out of the inning, bringing Joshlyn Martinez to the plate. Martinez blooped a single to left, driving in Gressley and tying the score at 2. Ashlyn Parmerter grounded to short to end the inning. Lauren Spiers then hit a walkoff homerun in the bottom of the seventh inningfor the Panthers to end the game. FAU (21-20, 6-6) will take some time off before traveling to Louisiana to face Louisiana-Lafayette and ULM in back-to-back series.
