Fawbush Throws Complete Game Three-Hitter The softball team lost to Syracuse 2-1 on Sunday despite a complete game three-hitter by Taylor Fawbush. The Owls (13-12) drew first blood in the bottom of the first inning, scoring when Rose Gressley drove in Kirstin Austin with a two-out single to right. FAU held the lead until the top of third inning when a two-run double put the Orange ahead 2-1. The game was a defensive minded one as there were no hits for either side after the third inning. After giving up two runs in the third inning, Fawbush retired 13 consective batters to end the game. FAUs best chance to score again came in the sixth inning when Gressley reached on an Orange error, but Fawbush lined into a double play to end the threat. Fawbush struck out six while taking a tough luck loss. The Owls return to the field on Tuesday to play Syracuse and Iowa at 5 p.m. and 7 p.m, respectively.
