Pek & Butler Capture Sun Belt Swimming & Diving Weekly Honors

After stacking up against some of the nation’s best swimmers and divers, the Florida Atlantic University’s Csaba Pek and Meagan Butler have been recognized as the Sun Belt Conference’s Swimmers and Divers of the Week. The awards were announced recently by the conference office. This marks the third time this season that members of the FAU men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams have earned the conference’s individual honor. Pek scored points in five events to help the Owls finish sixth among a field of nationally-ranked teams in last weekend’s Georgia Tech Invitational. The sophomore from Budapest , Hungary , placed third in the 400-yard individual medley (in 3:59.49), finished 10th the 200-yard breaststroke (2:08.15), placed 13th in the 200-yard individual medley event and had a 14th place finish in the 200-yard backstroke. He also swam the first leg of the 400-yard individual medley relay team that finished sixth. Butler was the highest FAU finisher and posted two top 15 efforts in the 1- and 3-meter diving boards in the Georgia Tech Invitational. The freshman from Orangeburg , N.Y. , earned 205 points from the judges in the 1-meter diving competition and 213.3 points in the 3-meter diving event. The strong field was the first competition that Butler had competed in this season.
