The American Athletic Conference has announced the mens basketball league schedule pairings for the 2023-24 season. Every team in The American will play 18 league games, including five of its 13 conference opponents twice and the other eight once four at home and four on the road. Starting this season, The American will have 14 teams competing in mens basketball with the six additions of UAB, Charlotte, Florida Atlantic, North Texas, Rice and UTSA joining continuing members, East Carolina, Memphis, South Florida, SMU, Temple, Tulane, Tulsa and Wichita State. Six programs earned postseason bids in 2022-23. Florida Atlantic and Memphis were selected to the NCAA Championship with the Owls advancing to their first Final Four. UAB and North Texas competed in the NIT championship game with the Mean Green pulling out the victory. Charlotte and Rice competed in the CBI and the 49ers won the tournament. The six teams combined for a postseason tournament record of 17-4. The complete 2023-24 mens basketball composite schedule with dates and times will be announced at a later date. The first conference play dates will be January, 2-4, 2024 and will run through March 10. The 2024 American Athletic Conference Mens Basketball Championship will expand to a 14-team tournament and be held at Dickies Arena in Fort Worth, Texas, March 13-17.
