Young announced his commitment to the Owls on Friday, days after making his official visit this past weekend.
Having played at Robinson High School for three seasons, Young is coming off the best year of his high school career. In 2023, he recorded 32 catches for 458 yards and six touchdowns.
Young is a versatile player who also excels on defense, playing as a defensive end and linebacker. In 2023, he contributed 32 tackles (16 solo), four tackles for loss, a sack, and a pass deflection.
He is a solid route runner who can get separation down the field, using his frame well to come down with contested balls. Young has the potential to be a real red zone threat as he continues to fill out his frame.
Rated as a three-star tight end with an 84 score on 247Sports, he is ranked the 91st-best player at his position and the 195th-best in Florida. His composite score of 0.8550 ranks him 63rd among tight ends and 157th in Florida.
On3 and Rivals also view him as a three-star player. On3 lists him with an 88 rating, ranking him as the 32nd-best tight end in his class and the 74th-best in Florida.
Young chose the Owls over enticing offers from multiple FBS schools such as Florida, Louisville, Kansas, Indiana, Pittsburgh, Texas A&M, and USF among others.
He is the 14th member of the Owls’ 2025 class and the fifth offensive player to commit to FAU, following Jordan Magwood, Cole Cooke, Nik Turner, and Logan Husband.
Young’s versatility and physicality will fit seamlessly into FAU’s offense, providing the Owls with a dynamic weapon capable of impacting the game both as a receiver and a blocker.
