For the first time in American Athletic Conference history, three teams enter the final week of regular-season play unbeaten in conference play as Tulane, SMU and UTSA all stand at 7-0 in league games.

The American is the only NCAA FBS conference with three unbeaten teams in conference play through Week 12 and is one of two conferences that will have two unbeaten teams in conference play against each other in the final week of the season (Big Ten - Ohio State vs. Michigan).

The participants in the 2023 American Athletic Conference Championship Game will be determined by the results of two games in Week 13. The winner of Friday’s matchup between UTSA and Tulane will clinch a spot, while SMU would clinch a spot with a win against Navy Saturday.

Navy (which faces SMU), Rice (which faces Florida Atlantic) and South Florida (which faces Charlotte) need wins on Saturday to gain bowl eligibility.

Seth Henigan threw four touchdown passes and Memphis beat Temple 45-21 on Friday in a regular-season finale.


UTSA 16  Tulane 29

Tulane University will host the American Athletic Conference Football Championship Game for the second consecutive season after the No. 18-ranked Green Wave took a win against UTSA Friday afternoon to finish an 8-0 season in conference games.

Navy 14  No. 25 SMU 59

The Mustangs capped an 8-0 season in conference play (10-2 overall) with a bg win against Navy Saturday in Dallas.

A matchup of top-25 teams is now set for the 2023 American Athletic Conference Football Championship Game as SMU will face No. 18 Tulane.

The Mean Green get the dub on Senior Day to finish the year at 5-7. The Blazers see a 4-8 finish in the first year for Trent Dilfer.

UAB tied the game with 2:43 to play but could not keep UNT out of field goal range down the stretch.

The Golden Hurricane also conclude the year at 4-8 with a road win over the Pirates (2-10). Second half points were tough to come by for both teams with Tulsa using a kick to edge ahead 26-24 late in the third, and each team netting just a field goal each the rest of the way.

Charlotte 14  USF 48

Redshirt freshman quarterback Byrum Brown threw for 253 yards and four touchdowns and added 43 yards rushing and a touchdown in a rout of the 49ers Charlotte (3-9, 2-6).He become the first Bull to pass for 3,000 yards on a season. The Bulls (6-6, 4-4) will be going bowling for the first time in five seasons of play.

That USF game was our best win of the year
