Tony Johnson Transferring

Some reason I can't post the attachment, which was in image of his official announcement, but none the less the subject says it all. Not good to start the offseason. Some football program will benefit from adding him to their program.

Wouldn’t care too much if it dies TBH. Hernan himself mentioned moving on from many guys after the season.

Hard truth is that this core since 2021 has won 5 games or less each year. We are watching the same season every year. Coach Herman has never had a losing season, until he arrived at a school that was 15-18 in their last 3 seasons. I trust him to revamp this roster, and begin to right the ship.

As much as I thought we had a talented roster on paper, it just isn’t on gameday. Since 2021, this team has too many games where it looks slow, tentative, and undersized. The talent advantage on teams like charlotte, is what we should strive for against better opponents in the future.

A lot of truth to what you said Axaltaracing24.

We all thought we had a very competitive team but found out differently.

What do “they” say……….
“Doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results”……….

Maybe this is true of some of the players we have. Tom Herman will get this going!

WE had a -3 total in close one score games.

I wonder why it is we cannot mount final drives for just an attempt of a game tying/winning FG?  WE are terrible at what most teams do all the time! For 4 years we cannot mount or stop a final game deciding drive.

Best of luck to all the guys that transfer out. But this roster needs serious turnover like what was mentioned before.

The other thing I will say is I’m becoming more concerned about the long term viability of the football program mainly being left behind in this NIL era. I don’t see support changing anytime soon.

Personally any NIL support we have needs to be going to the basketball program until further notice.

Totally agree. We need to recruit HS students well, and hit the portal to bring in game-ready talent. I also hate the portal, but it's here, so there's no sense in refusing to evolve. Eventually HS recruiting will come back to prominence (look at Deion at Colorado, losing some quality recruits), but we need to get some immediate contributors to give us a season to develop some HS players into collegiate athletes.

Also, sometimes players just have a culture of losing and can't shake it. Kiffin broke that culture with some winning transfers and better coaches, but Herman doesn't have the same star power to attract guys like Chris Kiffin.

All that to say, this roster needs a small overhaul, and the offense needs to take another look at the staff.

Also, I really agree about the NIL. I also agree that the former players should help out. But really we need somebody that will work with the wealthy donors that already give to the program. We need gifts for NIL now, maybe even more than facility upgrades. A million bucks probably helps us keep 20 players in the program.
