Owl Notables

FAU faced a tough challenge on the road this past weekend, dropping two out of three games against Rice. This setback places their chances of securing a spot in the AAC Tournament in jeopardy. Currently locked in a four-way tie for fourth place, they would slip to seventh in the standings, dangerously close to the cutoff for qualification.

Despite the team's struggles, Christian Adams has been a consistent performer for the Owls. He maintained a strong rhythm last week, going 5-for-12 in four games and leading the team with a .324 batting average for the season. His steady form could prove vital against the upcoming pitchers from the Eagles.

Carter Brady and Emilio Gonzalez also showcased commendable performances in recent matchups against FGCU and Rice. The duo combined for a solid 10-for-28 (.357) at the plate last week, with Gonzalez contributing three RBI and Brady notching a double while crossing the plate three times. Their contributions will be crucial as the Owls aim to ignite their offense in the upcoming non-conference finale.

Taking the mound on Tuesday afternoon will be Max Martzolf. In his last outing against FGCU, Martzolf pitched for two innings, tallying two strikeouts while conceding just one run. As he assumes the role of starter once again, his ability to maintain control and deliver a strong performance will be pivotal for FAU's success.

After this matchup, the Owls host their last series of conference play against UTSA starting May 16th at 6:30 PM EST. The series will be broadcast on ESPN+.

Eagle Notables

FGCU's dominance in conference play keeps them firmly in the running for the regular season title.

In a commanding display against Eastern Kentucky at home, the Eagles secured two out of three victories over the weekend, outscoring the Colonels by a staggering margin of 27-3 across the series. With a conference record of 17-10 in the ASUN, FGCU remains a strong contender for the top position in the league.

Ian Farrow shines as a standout performer in FGCU's lineup, boasting impressive statistics with a .377 batting average, 36 RBI, and 13 home runs, establishing himself as a formidable force at the plate. Ranked 119th nationally for home runs, containing his power becomes a crucial task for the FAU bullpen.

However, the threat doesn't end there. Jacob Lojewski, Charles Davalan, and Mac Moise present formidable challenges for the Owls. Lojewski leads the team with 44 RBI, while the trio collectively showcases their prowess with 51 doubles, five triples, and 23 home runs, demonstrating their ability to sway the momentum of the game with their impactful plays.

After these contest, the Eagles head to Jacksonville to face their last three-game set against North Florida starting May 16th at 6:00 PM EST. With a chance of securing a regular season title on the line, the series will be broadcast on ESPN+.
