Florida Atlantic football has acquired more depth on the defensive line with the addition of former Illinois State lineman Jude Okolo, who will transfer to Boca Raton.
Okolo is a four-year veteran who has played his whole collegiate career with the Redbirds, having become more involved with the defense with each passing year. Appearing in nine games last season, he had his best statistical year making 21 tackles (11 solo) with 4.5 of them creating a loss of eight yards. He departs from Illinois State with 28 tackles (16 solo) including 6.5 for a loss of 14 yards and a forced fumble in 22 games.
Several of his highlights with the Redbirds in 2022 can be seen below.
He has received plenty of recognition displaying himself as one of the best defensive lineman in the FCS. According to Pro Football Focus, he had the fourth-best rating among defensive tackles in the FCS with an 89.9 grade last year.
Okolo chose the Owls over the likes of SMU, Marshall, Ball State, Akron, and Jacksonville State among others.
He is likely to be in the mix for one of the starting spots on the defensive line.

Our standards are higher across the board now. At all positions. DL is one of the biggest areas we needed to gain size and performance at to move closer to being on par with the remaining legacy AAC members.Posted On: Apr 25th 2023, 1:09 PM #414209
He shows one heck of a swim move and quickness!
