Florida Atlantic is putting forth concentration towards the cornerback position, finding a solid addition in Lawrence Johnson as he will join the football program in 2024.
Johnson declared his commitment to the Owls on Saturday afternoon, strengthening the Owls' defense when the 2024 season arrives and providing plenty of competition for the fellow cornerbacks on the squad.
He was outstanding in his junior year at Miami Palmetto High School. He finished with 38 tackles (24 solo) including two for a loss of yardage, and three interceptions which totaled up to 85 yards.
His highlights from 2022 can be seen below:
Johnson is now the 14th member of FAU's expanding 2024 class. He picked the Owls over USF, Appalachian State, Illinois, Akron, Liberty, Marshall, and FIU among others.
"I choose FAU because of the potential I see in the program and where I know it can be in the near future," said Johnson.
"The staff is great and I know they will invest in me and make me better as a person and player."
He also became the ninth player to be joining the Owls' defensive group in 2024, putting himself alongside defensive lineman Loren Ward, defensive end Gavench Marcelin, defensive back Elijah Cannon, safeties Michael Wright III and Curtis Janvier, linebackers Jarvis Johnson Jr. and Remington Roberts, and cornerback Jaheim Miller.
