Fans looking for a good game against new rival South Florida or not new rival South Florida - whatever they will be called - are likely to be in store for one as the Owls make the journey to Raymond James to pair up with the Bulls.
Lines are lines, but once again the folks in the land of sin think this one will be tight.
And, rightfully so.
On paper, the head to head looks pair the squads fairly evenly. The run games and run defense games are neck and neck.
But something tells me that this game will go heavier one way or the other without it resulting in a 2-3 point affair when all is said and done.
Reasons the Owls could pull it off include a solid defensive showing while applying pressure to a questionable pass protection for the Bulls and some turnovers. Then again, unless they account for signal caller Byrum Brown it may be all for naught.
USF can do the same, and it would appear to be of greater detriment for FAU if they are successful as they sport 16 bags on the season.
The passing attack favors the Owls as the Bulls are giving up a league worst 292 yards per game.
On special teams, FAU is leading the league with 20.5 yards per punt return. The Bulls, just 3.9. This sets up the Owls better overall and could play a hand in the outcome. However, USF is 5-5 in field goal attempts to just 4-of-7 for FAU.
Going to step out on to the homer ledge this week, but for good cause. Had it not been for monsoon conditions against Tulsa, the outcome would likely have been 10 points plus. USF offers another opportunity to continue to improve, and there will be no chance of a monsoon.
Richardson has a good game, perhaps his best under center for FAU, and the Owls bring home the win.

It was a great step in the right direction that the Owls finally broke 20 points after being under that for three consecutive games. Could've had more if the relentless rainstorm did not come around, but the team did what they needed to do to come through in the clutch defensively.
With USF being lackluster on defense, I believe FAU will have their best offensive performance since the Monmouth victory. The Bulls will put up a good fight in the first half, but FAU's defense will become more prevalent as Byrum Brown starts to get worn out later on in the contest.

If we don’t get pressure on USF I think it could be a long day and we will struggle with the Huepel/Goelsch offense.
My gut says USF wins.
