I know im biased,  but FAU would be an awesome  place to transfer to. We have all the pieces in place with the exception of a big time arm. I think you guys have hinted enough to think that coach T is in the market for another QB.  Im excited about the outcome.

They can enter but they cannot play for two teams in one season and they cannot enroll at another school at this point in the calendar for obvious reasons. But they’re free to enter and announce where they’re headed in 2022 as soon as they have a landing spot. Same principle as JUCO transfers. 

Portal will be fascinating to watch as a whole when the season ends. I think we’re going to see a mass exodus at some schools as they’re gonna need to clear space with the super seniors and everyone who took advantage of that extra year. If you have someone who is graduating in December but has two years of eligibility left and doesn’t play really any snaps for you now, I feel like those are the kids (and every team has them) who will either voluntarily leave or be forced out. 

Some final numbers and thoughts on FAU’s 2021 major portal additions. By major, I mean players who generated considerable hype and attention coming into the season. I'll also include Je'Quan Burton considering how much he played.

Michael Johnson Jr., QB (Penn State): Didn’t play a snap all season. I would’ve liked to see him see time later in year. His place in the equation changed when Perry arrived. I would still add 1-2 transfer quarterbacks in the portal in the coming months.

N’Kosi Perry, QB (Miami): completed 60.7% of his passes for 2,777 yards, 20 touchdowns, and seven interceptions. A solid start to the year but too inconsistent as the season went on. Blame isn’t fully on him but there were some ugly throws, which IS/ARE on him. Biggest knock against him is failure to elevate offense down the stretch against mediocre CUSA competition teams.

Johnny Ford, RB (USF): 861 yards and five touchdowns on 6.3 yards per carry. Also had 23 catches for 280 yards and two scores. Some fumble issues but no real beef with Ford. One of the few players on this year’s team who either lived up to expectations or exceeded them. I would take him as my No. 1 back in 2022 in a heartbeat.

Je'Quan Burton (Iowa Central CC, Southern Illinois bounceback): 27 catches for 483 yards and three touchdowns. An explosive deep-ball threat (three touchdowns of 40+ yards) with sensational speed. Had some drops at points. Potential offensive building block if he can hang onto the ball.

Zaire Mitchell-Paden, TE (Notre Dame COLLEGE, not Brian Kelly's ND): 9 catches for 90 yards and a touchdown. Frustrated that he never got involved more as a vertical threat, especially considering the hype and size (6-5, 267). He was a man among boys in C-USA.

Chaz Neal, RT (FSU): Started 10 games before being benched. Should’ve been benched far earlier. Hoping a second year in system will be of use.

Kamaar Bell, RG (Auburn): Started all 12 games. Don’t know what analytics say, but at least he was durable?

Andrew Boselli, RG (FSU): Credited on the website with action in three games (no starts) and none after UAB.


Defense did not have any significant transfers. Only notable specialist was former Louisville kicker Logan Lupo, who did not attempt a kick.

So five transfers (Perry, Ford, Burton, Neal, Bell) saw significant action all year. How many really proved invaluable? Did ANY prove invaluable considering the team went 5-7? All valid questions.

Also, with the 2021 season over, we can also really adress the 2020 transfers and where they are now.

Aaron Young, WR (Duke): Four catches for 68 yards in 2020 before opting out. Played in two games this year. I was told last night in casual conversation that he quit the team.


Alvin Dempsey III, DL (East Central CC): 14 tackles and three tackles for loss in 2020. Did not return in 2021.


D'Marcus Adams, WR/CB/KR (FSU): Played on special teams in 2020 but did not have any stats. Hauled in three catches for 94 yards in the season's first two weeks but became a non-factor, likely because of drops. Averaged 23.6 yards on 10 kick returns.


Eli Fields (Butler CC): Did not play in 2020 and entered portal in 2021.


Malcolm Lamar, OL/DL (FSU): Did not play in 2020. Did not play in 2021.


Michael Irvin II (Miami): Hey, remember when we thought he'd fit right into Harrison Bryant's shoes? Two catches for 31 yards in 2020.


Sebastien Dolcine, OL (Copiah-Lincoln CC, Kentucky bounceback): Did not play in 2020 and entered portal in 2021.


TJ Chase, WR (Clemson): 37 catches for 534 yards and two touchdowns in two years. A regular starter in 2020 and a rotational piece in 2021. Came with significant hype but didn't do as much as we'd have liked. Still, he at least lasted two years

Yanez Rogers, WR/DB (Cincinnati): A pass breakup in 2020, no stats in 2021. He's still on the online roster as of Nov. 28.

Let's hope the next batch of transfers can contribute more than this group.
