I don’t understand why some people are upset about these guys entering the portal. Their announcement is simply one side of the story. 

Many are smart enough to see the writing on the wall, many more are strongly encouraged to seek new opportunities. 

I don’t see one player in recent announcements of any significant NIL value that is shopping themselves. 

This opens up the option for Coach to bring in better players at positions of need that will be immediate contributors. 

The rules alow this to occur.  It doesn't upset me if everyone is following  the rules. What bothers me is the inability to look at the future of college sports. The fan base of mid and small universities will never grow. The current fans will stick it out. But that's it. Thru attrition,  it will slowly shrink. NIL and the portal, as written, will damage the overall popularity  of the sport. Not this season or even next season. But  once guys like me are dead and gone, they will have a heard time replacing me with a new fan. JMHO.

Exactly, and there have been two losses we did not want. Wester, and Johnson. Other than that, it's healthy pruning.

Luke Rucker to the portal. Just couldn't have the impact he wished to make in the quarterback room that had plenty of opportunity with the starting spot up for grabs.

Michael Johnson Jr. enters the portal. Tough to see him go, with him being one of the bright spots from the Owls' offense in 2023. Showcased excellent mobility as a red zone specialist, but couldn't get any higher on the depth chart at quarterback.
