Out goes Wallace Unamba from the O-Line, who was a JUCO transfer prior to this past season. He has three years of eligibility remaining.

DB Jalen Huff has entered the portal again. GA Tech transfer turned Owl, he registered three tackles in 9 games of action this season.

We've had like 10 seniors graduate each of the last two years. While it is a bummer to lose players, this makes room for scholarships

Next Owl to the portal will be Jahbari Hill, who had a reserve role in his last two seasons with the team. He has two years of eligibility remaining.

I don’t know if this is more of a concern with how many kids we have transferring out or if this is just the modern cfb landscape where there is so much roster turnover from year to year. Either way, Herman needs to put a better product on the field next year.

I am sure there will be more of our players entering the portal today for a variety of reasons, but most are looking for playing time that they were probably not going to get at FAU.

Tony Johnson is a tough one to lose to the portal, and we may never know his reason, certainly not playing time.

Using the same players and expecting different results may not be something Tom Herman is looking at as a successful step forward for next year.

Lots of players entering the portal from other programs too. Plenty of opportunity to reload for next season with personnel that is an improvement.

Pretty interesting article below with some telling stats about the trends since the portal became a thing in 2019.

I think the figures this year for UNCC and Texas State become the norm once the portal is in full swing over the next few years.  This is annual musical chairs…what program, in extremely limited time can turn 50% of the roster over in 8 months and have success?

For FAU - hasn't really hurt yet, because we havent had the talent on our roster since 2019…but its going to sting when we lose starting QB's and other key posltions.  Imagine watching Motor leave for UF…ugh.

FBS rosters grow to 20.5% transfer players in 2023 - ESPN

- In the 2019 season, just 6.4% of FBS rosters were made up of transfers, according to data from SportSource Analytics. That number grew to 20.5% of rosters in 2023.

- Colorado brought in the most first-year transfer players of any FBS and had the most games played by transfers at 69.6% (54 transfers).

- Texas State was second with 64% of games played by transfers (45), followed by Charlotte at 55.8% (46), Ole Miss at 54.5% (27) and UMass at 53.3% (27).

- In the 2019 season, just 23.9% of starting quarterbacks were transfers compared to 55.7% in 2023. That has conversely affect the opportunity for freshmen quarterbacks to play. High school prospects were coming in more ready than ever and in 2019 when 10.1% of first-year quarterbacks were starters. That number has dropped to just 2.8 percent in 2023.

Teambeer is the most knowledgeable FAU sports fan I know, way smarter than me.

Daniel Richardson becomes the next player to enter his name in the portal. After Casey Thompson went down for the season, Richardson stepped up to the plate and gave some astounding displays throughout his starts (especially against USF)! Going to miss him!

Is it just me , or has everyone lost interest. I see we picked up a couple of transfers. So far everybody feels like just adding depth. Nothing that will make an impact. As for Thompson back at qb, I felt Richardson was an upgrade. But on an up note, basketball tonight and baseball around the corner.
