Our lone bright spot this year is now gone. NIL or no NIL this falls on the coaching staff. You can recruit all you want but if our best players aren’t sticking around, what’s the point? I’m convinced Herman is nothing more than the second coming of Taggart.

All they have to do is instill a salary cap…but then you are back to square one with equality and just forcing schools to fundraise to play players.

How long until this gets into the high school ranks?

I dont think a salary cap is even legal until the players are fully considered as 'employees' and there is a collective bargaining agreement in place.

FERPA basically establishes that they are essentially "employees" with the commitment to be given aid / scholarship regarding the use of medical information.

However, according to the Hiring to Firing blog the Seventh Circuit in Berger v. NCAA held that, since play is not work and student athletes are amateurs who voluntarily play without expecting any income, they do not qualify as employees under the FLSA.

Expect that completely change now that schools are in fact paying them NIL through a collective.

If a coach who has NEVER had a losing season comes to a school that hasn’t won over 5 games since 2019, it’s probably not his fault….

He is nothing like Taggart. The preparation, recruiting, demeanor. Not even close.

Officially entering the portal, Wester almost immediately receives an offer from Pittsburgh. Will be interesting what else he gets from other programs, especially the ACC, Big 10, and SEC.
