I was able to go into the bar tonight and ask them to put the game on… Middle of Nowhere, GA, and they put the game on. Great game. Let's keep it up, Owls!

I love talking to people that haven’t watched FAU before or hearing TV/podcast discuss FAU. We just have so many guys that can play and no one realizes it. Normally good mid majors are propelled by a couple NBA guys. Our second 5 guys would still probably give most teams trouble. Goldin is a high caliber player that most people don’t discuss and I hope FAU can build an Eastern Europe recruiting pipeline.

Live Stats: Here

Line: FAU -16

FAU at a Glance

Rebounding - 37 RPG Owls, 33 RPG Opponents

Owl Notables

FAU did an excellent job shutting down Liberty's offense.

They forced that team, who was making over 50% of their shots and 40% from beyond the arc heading into Thursday's game, to only convert 37.5% of their total attempts including 32% from deep.

Guard Alijah Martin had his second 20-point performance of the season to lead the Owls in scoring on Thursday. He has picked up the pace quite well since regaining his rhythm during the ESPN Invitational. Also keep an eye on center Vladislav Goldin, who had 18 points on 7-9 shooting against Liberty as he is now up to 74% from the field on the season, second in the nation.

Expect the Owls to have a tough battle on the glass against Charleston, who grabs 39 rebounds per game. Needing a lot of physicality and boxouts from the likes of Goldin, Giancarlo Rosado, Johnell Davis, and Martin would be key to the team getting the win.

After this round-robin tournament, FAU will return to the Empire State for the first time since last season during March Madness when they encounter Illinois on November 5th at 6:30 PM for the Jimmy V Classic at Madison Square Garden. The game will be broadcast on ESPN.

Charleston at a Glance

Offense - 72 PPG, 40% FG, 44% 3PT

Defense - 74 PPGA, 28% FGA, 33% 3PTA

Rebounding - 39 RPG, 37 RPG Opponents

Cougar Notables

Charleston got their third straight win after sending Liberty packing with a solid 76-67 victory on Friday night.

Similar to FAU, the Cougars had the Flames go cold shooting from the field. They made 49% of their overall shot attempts while forcing Liberty to have a low accuracy of 38%.

Ben Burnham was the standout performer from Charleston, having 18 points and eight rebounds to lead his team to victory. The forward is currently averaging 11.9 points, five rebounds, and 1.1 steals per game on 40.3% shooting overall including 27.3% from deep. Limiting his production, as well as heavily contesting the Cougars shots, would help FAU in finishing the Field of 68 in strong fashion.

When the Field of 68 is over, Charleston will come back home to South Carolina as they host Rhode Island on December 10th at 2:00 PM. The game will be broadcast on Flohoops.
