The NBA is not on the horizon for any of the players as of now, so the NIL money will be chased.
So sad to see it developing this way.
Wealthy schools will now buy championships in most conferences.

I think we got caught in the moment. FAU was sooo up and down tbh we should have been in the play in game but that would have been shameful. The committee wanted to stack all the final four teams last year to see good games and we lost it or should I saw May and Davis lost it. Dusty may is not a good coach, a good coach would have had us prepared and adjusted to the game. We were more battle tested and got sucker punched in the mouth.Local Owl said
@Delta, I look at it as realistic. 2023 was super super lucky. I think our expectations were too high.Posted On: Mar 22nd 2024, 4:59 PM #422799
The Bryant loss was a foreshadowing of things to come. I think we need to hit the portal and get better players, Greenlee and SPoon were lost at times and were non factors and also Gaffney. We need skilled scorers and size. We have no bench that needs to be retooled.

That’s a tough evaluation. I don’t disagree but we have to be realistic with our expectations. It’s hard to meet top 10 preseason expectations, get improvement from our bench, recruit players with size and skill, and win tournament games every year. I hope we can become a regular 20 win team that can break into the top 25 on a good year and be a team that other fans don’t want to see in March. I hope we can retain whoever is eligible, the culture is good and it’s unique. It might not be practical but I’d love for us to go against the tide a bit in this transfer happy instant gratification environment.

Thats why it seems we "underperformed".
Reality is AAC >>> CUSA, teams figured out how to defend against us, and a couple players regressed.
More on that later but see defensive comment for now.

Is he worth more than we pay him? Absolutely he's worth more.
If he has a chance to turn this program into the Zags of the East, which many people think he can. Then there's a good chance he stays and many players will also follow suit. Our recruits are super promising and he is building something special here.
With the increase of support from the community and fans, we can accomplish much more.
A huge thank you goes out from my family to everyone involved with the FAU Basketball team for giving us something to cheer about for the last two years.
Also, thank you for all of the blood, sweat, and tears from our team, coaches, staff, and faithful fans. And, thank you for helping shine light on the University that we all love. You truly put us on the map and we now have the respect we deserved many years ago. GO OWLS!

I always try to be the "glass is half-full" kind of person. So, today, I can only hope that we only lose our seniors. And, Coach Dusty May loves his situation, freedom, and pay while living in paradise.

Thank you, I needed to read something like this. I'm making my way through the 4th stage of grief and this helped.

A coach of Coach May’s caliber is not going to stay at a program that is incapable of upgrading to a decent arena. He’d be stupid too. Facilities are going to hold this athletic program back from achieving anywhere close to it’s real potential.
