I don’t know why we couldn’t have just taken on some debt and tried to fundraise for a new arena

Unfortunately, I think NIL money will talk, and our best players will be drawn away next year.
The NBA is not on the horizon for any of the players as of now, so the NIL money will be chased.
So sad to see it developing this way.
Wealthy schools will now buy championships in most conferences.Posted On: Mar 22nd 2024, 5:01 PM #422800
Let them go then…
Given our style of play, our players are only as good as their team mates, and also how well they do their job when given the ball.
As we saw with Arizona, and Memphis (who played selfishly) along with us against Bryant and FGCU, being talented means nothing when the other team plays defense and hits their shots.
Personally think they will not perform as well unless they are stepping down to a lesser competition level or find just the right system to plug into. And even then, if it a move up, they won't be "the guy" and will have to share - placing emphasis on the original point.
We had something special chemistry wise and caught lightning in a bottle.

Either that, or May not calling timeout to create a better shot than the one Davis put up at the buzzer…Posted On: Mar 22nd 2024, 2:34 PM #422764

Our basketball facilities are embarrassingly horrific. FGCU, Nova and FIU have better arenas and they’re in much smaller conferences.

At least do something to drum up some hype. Throw a 3D rendering of an arena+practice facility in the arena lobby for everyone to see during home games…
“The Future of FAU Basketball: The Next Chapter”
Even if it doesn’t happen quick, it gets people talking and shows donors/fans/players/coaches that the school is serious about investing in their future. I get this feeling that the university just feels content with what referring back to “that 2023 year”. We can be so much more with just some commitment.

I don't want FAU arena to look near close to what FIU looks like. Their arena is terrible.faufan2017 said

I think FAU's inside is much nicer. All FAU needs to do is to expand the north wall, add seating and connect it to the side stands and create a horseshoe type of seating, raise the ceiling and have a nice scoreboard hanging from the ceiling and lastly add a better looking seating section below the suites. That's all FAU needs for now. We don't need 6k seats.
5K should be the limit.
Something similar to what FGCU has.

He allowed Johnell Bryant take the ball down and do another stupid move. Som may say Goldin should have made the free throw but he made 4 crucial free throws to tie and give us the lead. A real coach calls a timeout and draw up a championship winning play.
I think we should let Dusty walk, find a better coach that can make it work and go from there. My thing is this either he has a new deal ready to sign at a P5 and can care less what we did. The faster we got bounced the faster he can recruit for the new school. If he was coaching for a huge deal he would have cared more and not been soo relaxed and calm.
He’s gone guys, let’s move on and find our next coach. A coach that loves where he coaches would not allow such a bad performance on a big stage.

I’m not saying Dusty is staying (I believe if he goes anywhere this year it’s to Michigan. They’ll want to change the perception of the program/coach from what Howard was)…but he didn’t coach this game any different than thought the year. He has had many instances of keeping timeouts in his pocket, and trusting his guys (too much in my opinion) at the end of games. I love our players, and coach. Very thankful to what they provided to the school and city. I do however think there are other good coaches we can get from Drake (Boca ties), James Madison, Indiana State, etc. If they do come back, I think we are in good position for a run. We got spoiled quickly. If we can get to the tournament and win a game or two consistently that would be leaps and bounds better than what anyone could have ever imagined. Do think we could have gotten better results this year but not complaining.

There are definitely plans to continue to improve the Eli and build a practice facility.
The practice faculties are in Dusty May’s contract, we will see how he honors the request that he made.
There are no plans to build a new arena at this time.
This is Boca and who knows what next season holds if we do not come out of the gate winning.
We could be back to a half full arena by conference time.
