This is awesome!  I had no idea that this was even in the works.  My oldest Son played hockey for 11 years in NC & TN and now has the chance to go to FAU and play the sport that he loves ;D

Voice, is the team aware of Boca's desire to build an ice rink on Spanish River Blvd by the library?

I think the submitted bids were put on hold due to the shaky economy but hopefully that will change.

Not sure if you knew anything about it, if the team (especially the coach) had approached the City about using it as their "home" ice rink, etc.

now how in the hell can I get a FAU hockey jersey?

despite being the old logo, it would be cool to have.

OWL4EVER - That would be awesome as they're missing a lot of players! Unfortunately, they're under a lot of financial pressure, since the school doesn't help at all. They currently only have 2 defensemen on the roster (most teams have at least 6, for 3 pairings). Forwards have had to play D.

owlcountry - I'm not sure I've heard about that. I think the team is really happy at Saveology. It's a great facility - it's where the Panthers practice and they accommodate things well.

NCowl - They are pretty cool. The home jerseys are slightly less cool - they're white with red stripes and FAU on them. I got one of those blue jerseys with "The Voice" on the back during a ceremony last year. It is a really sweet jersey.

The team is traveling to Albany for a big tournament next weekend. They're not home again until early November. They are currently 3-2 on the year.

Owls just played in a huge tournament in Albany this past weekend and went 2-1 against perennial powers, despite having an even more shorthanded roster than usual. Really excited for how well they're playing.

Hmmm…wonder if FAU would consider replacing one of the "non revenue" sports that make nothing and produce no attendance in exchange for adding a hockey team - which is more exciting to watch and would draw much better, IMO.

The potential Spanish River plan Owlcountry mentioned would make it a much more attractive point of consideration for sure…….

How many fans are you guys currently getting to a "home" game AI_TheVoice?

It definitely varies. We probably get 50-100 on a good night. Sometimes we get a big group of students that show up (the same group that makes a lot of noise at basketball games). It doesn't seem like a huge number but given the lack of knowledge about it, it's not bad. Sometimes the stands are pretty full.

FAU Hockey and FAU Rugby are two teams that probably deserve much more fan support than they actually get...
