Owls Start Season with Six Straight 2009 Tournament Teams Florida Atlantic University Athletics has released the 2010 schedule for FAU softball. The team will play at least 14 games against teams that made the 2009 NCAA Tournament, including six straight to begin the season. We are going to find out how good we are in a hurry, said Joan Joyce, FAU head softball coach. FAU starts the season at the Dot Richardson National Collegiate Softball Invitational in Clermont from Friday February 12 through Sunday, February 14, 2010, where they will face the University of Tennessee-Chattanooga, Tennessee, Oklahoma University, UCLA and the University of Georgia, a Womens College World Series participant. FAU will return home to face the University of Kentucky as part of the FAU Kick-Off Classic and home opener from Friday, February 19 through Sunday, February 21, 2010. FAU will host four tournaments during the season, including the fourth annual Strike-Out Cancer tournament. ACC opponents Florida State University comes to Boca Raton from Friday, March 5 through Sunday, March 7, 2010 as part of the Miken Classic. Sun Belt Conference play kicks off on Wednesday, March 10, 2010 when FAU hosts Western Kentucky University in a doubleheader. After hosting the Parents Weekend Tournament, the Owls will wrap up their tournament schedule by traveling to Clearwater for the USF-The Game Invitational where they will play 2009 NCAA Tournament teams University of Illinois and Ohio State University, in addition to Long Island University, the University of Maryland and Towson University. The conference schedule is highlighted by a weeklong trip to Louisiana, including a three-game set against defending regular season and tournament champion University of Louisiana-Lafayette. The 2010 Sun Belt Championship Tournament will take place in Mobile, Alabama from Wednesday, May 12 through Saturday, May 15, 2010, hosted by the University of South Alabama.
