Hope everyone had a very Happy Thanksgiving! As we get back to life afterwards, and Sun Belt football, there are only two weeks remaining until the final standings are defined. With a myriad of post season hopes at stake, here’s the game lineup for Week 13, November 27th. Teams in bold are the desired winners for the Owls. Arkansas State (4-7, 4-3) vs Florida International (5-5, 5-1) @ 3:30 p.m. – Sun Belt Network A-State finishes out the season against FIU looking to play the spoiler role. Expect a close game, that could go down to the wire given defensive match-ups. ASU is victorious 53.7% of the time under Steve Roberts in games with a winning differential of seven points or less. Here’s to that happening. Red Wolves Face Golden Panthers Saturday Louisiana (2-9, 2-5) vs Louisiana-Monroe (5-6, 4-3) @ 3:30 p.m. – None Rickey Bustle produced a 6-6 squad the last two years, and a 9-6 mark in conference during that span. So, what ails the Cajuns? Poor defense, and a dead last ranking in league numbers accordingly. However, this is a rivalry game, and emotions could render that factor meaningless. Another close one is likely. Geaux Cajuns! Cajuns’ TE Coach Troy Wingerter talks about the Warhawks Florida Atlantic (4-6, 3-3) vs Middle Tennessee (4-6, 3-3) @ 3:30 p.m. – None It’s all on the line for both squads, with the loser staying home at season’s end. Special teams played a huge factor in last season’s loss for the Owls as the Blue Raiders blocked two punts and a field goal in a contest that arguably kept FAU from being bowl eligible. It’s somewhat ironic that a loss in this year’s match-up would do the same. The team with the fewest mistakes will move on, and FAU placed heavy emphasis on that facet during practice this last week. Owl’s Nest Preview Western Kentucky (2-9, 2-5) vs Troy (5-5, 4-2) @ 3:30 p.m. – TBA Hilltoppers’ running back Bobby Rainey is averaging 4.77 yards per carry heading into Saturday, and his 1,492 total yards is good enough for second in the nation. Just four more points would have put WKU at 4-3 instead of 2-5 in Sun Belt play. After struggling the past two seasons, this team is on a teeter totter, battling towards finding an identity in consistent victory. The Trojans are heavy favorites (-13) and should win. However, rooting for the Toppers, and would not be the least bit surprised in an upset as well. Taggart learning plenty of lessons during first season Kansas State (6-5, 3-5) vs North Texas (3-8, 3-5) @ 4:00 p.m. – UNT Pay Per View A win for the Wildcats simply pads bowl eligibility. However, UNT coming away victorious helps the conference RPI. Saturday marks the last contest to be played at Fouts Field, as North Texas moves into new digs for 2011 . Will it be enough motivation to upset KSU? Let’s hope so, it’s a tall order. Go Mean Green! KSU @ UNT Preview Enjoy your weekend…….
