Owls drop the second of a two-game New York swing with 73-66 loss to Manhattan College Florida Atlantic came out on the short of their second game in New York falling to the Manhattan College Jaspers tonight 73-66 at Draddy Gymnasium. Manhattan rushed out to a 9-0 lead, and led 30-23 at the half. Those things happen when you dont come, and youre not alert early. So many things that go wrong, many times, go wrong because you are not ready to start the game at the beginning. When you are on the road you better come out hungry, and with fire or youre not going to win, said FAU Coach Mike Jarvis. The Owls pulled to within three points in both the first and second half on three point baskets by Alex Tucker, and Ray Taylor, but would not lead in the contest. Overall, poor shooting plagued FAU, as they connected on just 22 of 64 shots from the floor. The Owls also had trouble with the Jaspers pick and roll game, which resulted in many uncontested baskets. Jarvis was not pleased with his teams performance, but didnt stop there. Youve got to make plays. We did not make them. I cant say they did, but they made more than we did. We were not very good tonight. We do certain things fifty times in practice. Tonight it was a collective effort, coaches, players, everybody, said Jarvis. Ray Taylor was once again the leader for FAUs offense with 17 points – 15 of which came in the second half. Shavar Richardson, who played before family and friends, finished with 12 points, while Greg Gantt added 11 for the Owls. Brett Royster had eight rebounds. The Jaspers were lead by guard Antoine Pearson, who had 18 points and nine rebounds in the win. The team will conclude a four game road swing Friday night when they take on The Big Easts South Florida Bulls in Tampa. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:00PM EST. Discussion Box Score
