Second Half Surge Is Off The Mark FAU took on the Privateers of New Orleans tonight hoping to start a new streak – a winning one. But a failed second half comeback attempt left them back in the loss column by a final score of 68-75. Teams matched baskets and stood toe to toe during a first half which saw a remarkable 6 ties and 14 lead changes. Alex Tucker was impressive in the first period with 5 assists, and tossed a half court no look pass to a wide open Chris Watson who flushed one home for the Owls. The Privateers jogged into the locker room with a 3 point lead off of a late run with just under 1:00 to play in the period. Florida Atlantic struggled to control the ball during the second half and saw New Orleans extend its lead to 54-42 at the 9:00 mark of the second half. The Owls pulled to within 4 on a Paul Graham bank shot, and would have a number of chances to cut into the Pioneer lead late in the game, but shots just didn’t fall. Turnovers also plagued the Owls: “Can not win on the road turning the ball over. I don’t think one of them was forced. Poorly played game in terms of concentration”, offered Coach Jarvis on the loss. Free throws were also a problem for FAU, as they made just 6 of 14 from the line. That’s The Stats Jack Brett Royster sank a career high 17 points, and added 3 swats in his continued quest to become FAU’s all-time single season leader in blocks. Chris Watson hauled in 9 boards to accompany his 10 points. Alex Tucker dished out 11 assists. Next Up for The Owls FAU next hosts the Troy Trojans this Saturday, February 7th, at 7:00PM. The Owls will look to avenge an earlier season road loss when they were downed 87-94 at Troy.
