FAU Goes 3-2 on the Weekend The Florida Atlantic softball team defeated the University of Connecticut 2-1 in eight innings on Sunday. Kerri Croney put FAU (10-9) on the board in the first inning, scoring on an RBI infield single by Blair Bodenmiller to give the Owls a 1-0 lead. The run stood up until the top of the seventh inning when UConn (1-7) catcher Amanda Martin hit a solo home run to tie the game. The score remained tied until the bottom of the eighth when Croney came to the plate with the bases loaded and lifted a fly ball to left field that allowed Ambar Jones to score. Croney went 2-for-2 at the plate and Rose Gressley threw a complete game four-hitter for her third win of the season. The Owls return to action on Monday when they host Michigan State at 6 p.m.
