Owls Bang Out Season High 11 Hits Brittany Walkers was three-run homerun was the key hit in the Florida Atlantic softball teams series clinching 7-3 win over North Texas on Sunday. Walkers homer was part of a five-run sixth inning for the Owls (18-17, 3-3 Sun Belt) that took them from a 3-1 deficit to a 6-3 lead. North Texas (13-11, 3-3 Sun Belt) took a 1-0 lead in the first inning on an RBI double by Mallory Cantler. FAU tied the game in the third on Kerri Croneys RBI single to right field. The Mean Green scored a run in both the fourth and fifth innings to take a 3-1 lead headed to the sixth inning. Croney and Blair Bodenmiller led off the sixth inning with back-to-back base hits, which chased NT starter Ashley Lail from the game. After a Jessica Myers sacrifice moved the runners up, Taylor Fawbush doubled to left to tie the score at 3. NT changed pitchers again, but failed to stop the rally as Rose Gressley singled to short to bring Walker to the plate. Walkers shot down the line in left was her first of the year and put the Owls ahead for good. North Texas loaded the bases in the sixth, but couldnt score. FAU added another run in the seventh on a RBI groundout by Gressley. Gressley pitched three innings in relief for her fourth win of the season and the Owls tied their season high with 11 hits. FAU returns home to face South Alabama next weekend.
