Here’s the Sun Belt Conference’s game lineup for Week nine, October 30th. Teams in bold are the desired winners for the Owls. Louisiana (2-5, 2-3) vs Ohio (5-3, 4-1) @ 2:00 p.m. – Audio The Bobcats are playing solid football on both ends of the field. Aside from a 43-7 trouncing by Ohio State, their other two losses have come by a total of just eight points. Wins, on the other hand, have all been decisive. The Cajuns will have to have to play near perfect to pull off the upset. Cajuns Break From Sun Belt Play North Texas (1-6, 1-3) vs Western Kentucky (1-6, 1-2) @ 3:00 p.m. – Audio The Toppers finally showed signs of life, smacking Louisiana 54-21 last Saturday in convincing fashion on their own turf. Impressive? Yes. Don’t let the record fool you. WKU is improving each week, and there is no reason to think they won’t get win number two against the Mean Green when returning to Bowling Green before a fired up Homecoming crowd – one who has enjoyed just one triumph in the last 27 games. Prior to last weekend, WKU had not won since 2006 when they raced to a 41-3 victory over Indiana State. Hilltoppers Set To Host North Texas Troy (4-2, 3-0) vs Louisiana-Monroe (3-4, 2-2) @ 3:30 p.m. – Sun Belt Network How sweet it would be if the Warhawks could some how knock off the Trojans; thus creating more disparity amongst league standings. Possible? No. The Trojans are locked in on achieving their “fifth straight league title” (debatable if you are an FAU fan) after enjoying a bye week since an emotional 31-24 win over UL . But, in the short term, they want to recover from losing in their last two trips to Monroe, and will roll easily in this one. Trojans Look To End Drought at ULM Florida International (2-4, 2-0) vs Florida Atlantic (1-5, 0-3) @ 4:00 p.m. – None Bragging rights are on the line – not to mention a head-to-head recruiting advantage – tomorrow when the Owls take on the Golden Panthers in Shula Bowl IX. Statistically, everything points to an FIU win. The question to beg is whether the Owls can finally muster a clean and precise 60 minutes of play; thus keeping the Trophy in Boca Raton? The defense has shown improvements over last year, but the offense has been hampered by penalties and miscues resulting in costly turnovers. It’s “put up or shut up time” as a historic showdown awaits. Game Preview Enjoy your weekend…….
