The womens basketball team could not overcome a double-digit halftime deficit and fell to Kennesaw State 65-64 at the FAU Arena on Sunday afternoon. Our team didnt come out how I expected, said head coach Chancellor Dugan. I didnt think we were intense to start the game. Kennesaw State held a 35-23 lead at halftime after FAU turned the ball over 11 times in the opening stanza. Four minutes into the second half FAU found themselves facing their largest deficit at 40-27. However the Owls responded and rattled off 10 straight points to pull within three. After FAUs run, Kennesaw State opened the lead back up to 49-37 but again could not hold on. The home team pushed it back to a one-point game with 39 seconds remaining. A turnover by Teri Stamps after an inbound pass with 14 seconds left led to two Kennesaw free throws, extending their lead to 65-62. Vontrice Dennis had another strong game for FAU and posted her second straight double-double with16 points and 14 rebounds. Breana Turner and Latavia Dempsey each added eight points and Teri Stamps recorded a game-high five assists. FAU next hits the road to take on Jacksonville on Wednesday.
