Lyrell Barfield leads all scorers with 18 points The Florida Atlantic womens basketball outscored ULM 46-33 in the second half en route to an 77-60 victory over the Warhawks on Saturday night. The Owls (8-7, 4-1) were paced by Lyrell Barfield who led all scorers with 18 points. The junior from Miami has now scored in double-figures in three straight games. The Warhawks (7-9, 1-5) had three players score in double-figures with Elizabeth Torres leading the way with 15 points. FAU started off the game on a 7-2 run before ULM was able to get settled in the first half. Both teams traded leads through the opening 20 minutes with no side holding a lead larger than six points. The Owls however were able to control the pace for the final five minutes to take a 31-27 lead into halftime. The second half was also back-and-forth as FAU started off on an 11-2 run. ULM would respond however to go on an 11-0 run of their own to tie the game at 41-41 with 14:23 remaining. The momentum then switched back in FAUs favor as the Owls went on a 20-4 run over the next nine minutes to take firm control of the game. Both teams traded baskets down the stretch as the lead was too much for ULM to overcome. Senior Brittany Bowe had another solid performance directing the Owls offense. The point guard scored 15 points but more importantly tallied eight assists and three steals while only committing four turnovers. Breana Turner had another strong performance as well scoring 11 points and grabbing eight rebounds. The Owls will return to action next week with a road contest against Western Kentucky on Wednesday night. Tip-off is scheduled for 8 p.m. eastern.
