Recent transfer Kyler Laing will be seeing one of his teammates at Buffalo join him with the Florida Atlantic football team, who will get an experienced receiver in Marlyn Johnson, who is seeking a new beginning after nearly spending his entire collegiate career at Buffalo.

He will be inserting himself in a competitive battle at wide receiver, when he joins the program in 2024 as a graduate transfer.

Making his announcement on Monday afternoon, Johnson leaves the Bulls after five seasons. In 37 games, he made 63 receptions for 739 yards and five touchdowns. This past campaign saw him go for a career-high 495 yards and four touchdowns on 40 catches in 12 contests.

His best performance this year came against Fordham on September 9th. Johnson lit up the Rams' defense with 105 yards and a pair of touchdowns on seven receptions. His longest catch was for 80 yards when Buffalo took on Miami (OH) on November 15th.

With 247Sports rating him as a three-star recruit with an 80 score coming out of The Peddie School in New Jersey, Johnson showcases a big frame as a receiver who is not afraid to be physical. He had 28 catches for 543 yards and seven touchdowns throughout his senior season. NJ.com also ranked him the 27th-best player in the state following his final year in high school.

He was originally committed to Rutgers before withdrawing his pledge to go to Buffalo instead. He also had multiple P5 offers from Nebraska, Kentucky, Boston College, West Virginia, and North Carolina.

Johnson is now the 21st member of FAU's expanding 2024 class. Entering the portal on December 5th, he chose the Owls over Pittsburgh among others.

He could also be the third player to be joining the Owls' receiving corps in the 2024 season, likely putting himself with Joseph Young from Coffeyville Community College and Leon Washington Jr. from North Florida Christian High School.

His highlights from his senior year at The Peddie School back in 2018 can be seen below:
