Miller announced his transfer to the Owls on Wednesday afternoon. He took part in the NBA Draft Combine, getting feedback from scouts on what to improve in his game before withdrawing from the draft as the deadline for undergraduates to remove themselves from NBA consideration was May 29.
He leaves the ACC's Florida State Seminoles after two seasons. In his sophomore campaign, he averaged 7.6 points, 4.9 rebounds, 1.4 assets, 1.1 blocks and 0.9 steals per game. He started in 32 of the 33 games he played. Miller had a career-high 14 points on Jan. 9 against Wake Forest.
He made his debut in college basketball after serving a 16-game suspension imposed by the NCAA at the beginning of his freshman year. Despite the setback, he appeared in 15 games, starting two, and averaged 4.3 points and 3.7 rebounds per game. Following the season, he showcased his talent on the international stage, leading Spain to victory in the FIBA U-19 World Championship held in Hungary.
Miller was the third leading scorer for Spain in the tournament, averaging 9.4 points, getting the second-most rebounds with six on average, while blocking 0.7 shots, and making 0.6 steals per game. He totaled 11 points and five rebounds as a starter in 22 minutes played in Spain’s championship game victory over France.
Hailing from Mallorca, Spain, Miller began his basketball journey at the age of 12 with the Real Madrid organization. Over six years with the program, he showcased his skills, averaging 11.3 points and 5.3 rebounds per game in the Spanish Basketball League (Liga EBA) during the 2021-22 season, primarily featuring for Real Madrid's B team in the EBA.
Standing tall at 6-foot-11 and weighing 204 pounds, Miller boasts a versatile and perimeter-oriented playing style. His growth spurt during his teenage years, growing from 6-foot-2 at 14 years old, contributed to his ability to stretch the floor. Shooting 29.3% from beyond the arc last season on 2.5 attempts per game, Miller is also adept at handling the ball.
As a highly rated four-star recruit with a score of 95, Miller emerged as the top player from Spain, ranked 12th in his position as a center, and 49th overall in the nation. Regarded as one of the premier international prospects in the Class of 2022, he made the decision to commit to Florida State over Gonzaga in June 2022.
Having entered the portal on March 29th, Miller has a 92 rating on 247Sports while ranking as the 18th-best center in the nation and the 112th-best overall.
