Evans Jr. announced his transfer to the Owls on Monday morning. He leaves the SWAC's Jackson State Tigers after four seasons, putting up averages of 11.3 points, 4.5 rebounds, and 2.4 assists in his 111 appearances that saw 91 starts.

Last season, he finished atop the SWAC in scoring, averaging 18.8 points per game, sixth in field goal percentage (.414), eighth in assists (2.87), fourth in defensive rebounds (4.26), and first in minutes played en route to receiving the conference's Player of the Year award as well as BOXTOROW naming him HBCU National Co-Player of the Year.

He earned SWAC Player of the Week on two different occasions and scored 20 points or more in 11 games this season and in double-figures in each SWAC game he played, including a career-high 37 against Arkansas-Pine Bluff. He also scored 20 points against Georgetown and Missouri and 25 points against Gonzaga.

One of Evans' best traits involving his playstyle is his ability to score at the rim. Over 36% of his shot attempts came in that area, where he was successful 46% of the time.

Another skill he possesses is crashing the offensive glass. He's collected 127 throughout his career, averaging 1.14 per game. When the Owls are looking to create second chances, it would be plausible to keep track of where Evans is on the court.

The Owls saw plenty of competition in pursuing Evans' services, prevailing over the likes of Memphis, Ole Miss, Louisville, Minnesota, Georgia, and Hawaii among others.

Having entered the portal on March 19th, Miller has a 92 rating on 247Sports while ranking as the 13th-best combo guard in the nation and the 125th-best overall.

With the addition of Evans Jr, the Owls have completed their 2024-25 season scholarship roster under first-year Head Coach John Jakus.
