The FAU Football invite only pool party held in late July continues to produce dividends. And this time it has produced a pledge from a prospect who sports a 10.4 100 meter dash, as Mandarin High corner Jaylen Lewis decided he wants to join the rapidly expanding group of the Owls' 2025 class.

Lewis is a dual sport athlete, where he excels on both the gridiron and in track. While active on the field of play for the Mustangs football team, he also touted an impressive 21.2 seconds in the 200 meter dash - a mark which earned him the state title at the varsity level of competition.
"I feel like it’s the place to be", said Lewis on his decision to be a part of the momentum in Boca Raton. "I love what Coach Herman is doing plus the environment is amazing."
He was originally offered by FAU cornerback coach Brandon Harris at the end of January and later received interest from South Florida in early June. But his trip to Boca Raton afterwards sealed the deal.
"My play style fits perfectly into coach Bellantoni’s scheme", Lewis said. "Coach Harris really helped me with my decision. We’ve had an amazing relationship since they first offered me in late January and now I’m ready to be 100% an Owl!!!!"
Lewis tallied 33 tackles last season at Mandarin, with 23 of those being solo efforts, and posted three tackles for loss along the way. So far through one contest this season he has three tackles, all solo.
His junior year highlight reel can be viewed below:
Lewis is currently the 9th member of the Owls' 2025 class on the defensive side of the ball. He becomes the 3rd defensive back while joining the likes of Damon Allen of West Boca, and Zion Paret of Miami Central.
He will make his way to Boca Raton having selected FAU over American Conference opponent South Florida.
