The Owls' secondary gained plenty of future strength and talent with Damon Allen's commitment from West Boca Raton High School.
Allen announced his commitment via social media on Tuesday afternoon, expressing his conviction about FAU to NewEraPrep:
"I chose FAU because this is a school that truly feels like home. Since I first stepped on campus, I knew FAU was the school for me," Allen stated. "I know Coach Herman and his staff will equip me with the best tools to bring my game to the next level. I’m excited to announce that I’m staying home and becoming an Owl!"
Allen's standout performance at Palm Beach Central High School in 2023 showcased his talent with 42 total tackles, seven interceptions, five pass Breakups, and two forced fumbles.
His prowess in press coverage was instrumental in the Broncos' success, boasting a 10-3 record. His stats proved that he played a key role in having the secondary become difficult for opposing offenses to get past, indicating his talent and effort was coveted plenty by the Owls.
When asked about his play style, Damon said: "After the first time I put my hands on a receiver, I know I won the day," Allen stated. "Most guys don’t like to get physical, and they begin to shut down. After that it’s all a mental game."
In mid-January, Damon announced his transfer to West Boca Raton High for his senior season, shortly followed by FAU presenting him with his first official Division I offer on January 21st. After attending FAU's Spring Game this past weekend, he has aligned his pledge with the Owls when he arrives in 2025.
And that nod for FAU doesn't come without strong competition, as Allen has seen interest from a number of programs while landing offers from West Virginia of the Big 12, Liberty of Conference USA, and Bethune-Cookman of the Mid-eastern Athletic Conference, amongst others.
Allen is the third member of the Owls' 2025 class, joining Seth Chestnut and Nigel Nelson.
