The wide receiver room and special teams are both going to enjoy having strong depth, recently earning the commitment is building itself back up quite nicely for the Florida Atlantic football team, having their latest addition in Milan Tucker. He is transferring from App State and will make his way to Boca Raton next season.
Declaring his allegiance on Saturday night, Tucker leaves the Mountaineers after five seasons. In 53 career games, he returned 52 kickoffs for 1,316 yards (seventh place in program history) and one touchdown (96 yards against Marshall in 2022) to go along with 24 catches for 336 yards and one touchdown as a receiver as well as 13 tackles as a cornerback/on special teams and one fumble recovery (on special teams). This includes being named a second-team All-American as a kick returner in 2022 from the Football Writers Association of America.
This past year was an intriguing one for the veteran player. Making the permanent switch from cornerback to wide receiver, he averaged 23.8 yards on 23 kickoff returns and caught 21 passes for 305 yards with one touchdown. Not only did he score his first career receiving touchdown on a 35-yard, go-ahead catch and run against East Carolina, he even had a 69-yard reception against Coastal Carolina.
Tucker was rated as a two-star prospect with a 79 score by 247Sports coming out of Fort Myers High School, ranking him the 249th-best cornerback in the country and the 322nd-best wide receiver in the state of Florida. ESPN and On3 have him rated as a three-star player. He mulled on offers from Iowa State, Georgia Southern, Princeton, and Southern Miss among others, taking his time until committing to the Mountaineers in 2018.
He is now the 29th member of FAU’s blooming 2024 class. Entering the portal on December 7th, 2023, he chose the Owls over FAMU and Idaho among others.
Tucker becomes the sixth receiver to transfer to the Owls for the 2024 season, joining the likes of Dom Henry from BYU, Caleb Coombs from Marshall, George Johnson III from UMass, Joseph Young from Coffeyville Community College and Marlyn Johnson from Buffalo.
