The Florida Atlantic football team has been strengthening their talent in the wide receiver room, gaining the commitment of Dom Henry. He is transferring from BYU and looking for a fresh start when he makes his way to Boca Raton this spring.
Declaring his allegiance on Friday evening, Henry leaves the Cougars after two seasons. He played a reserve role throughout his time with the team, making one appearance this past campaign against Iowa State on November 11th.
During his time in the program, BYU had veteran wide receivers like Puka Nacua, Chase Roberts, Kody Epps, and Keanu Hill among others higher up in the rotation.
“Dom has a chance to be a good player,” BYU’s offensive coordinator Aaron Roderick said about Henry during spring camp last year, according to the Salt Lake Tribune. “He has played very well up to his point…Very good route runner. He has good range. He plays bigger than he is, I would say, as a target. He has really good range. I love how he competes.”
Henry was rated as a three-star prospect with an 85 score by 247Sports coming out of Ponte Vedra Beach High School, ranking him the 158th-best player in the state of Florida and the 182nd-best wide receiver in the country.
ESPN and On3 have him rated as a three-star player. He had offers from Air Force and Army among others before deciding to take his talents to BYU in 2022.
“All-NewsJAX Offensive Player of the Year. Named to the Daytona Beach News-Journal Volusia-Fagler-St. Johns team. Totaled 1,590 receiving yards and 13 touchdowns on 81 receptions for a Nease program that made Sunshine State’s 7A regional final,” according to 247Sports’ high school scouting report on Henry.
He is now the 27th member of FAU’s huge 2024 class. With wide receivers coach David Beaty paying him a visit on December 6th, Henry will be a great long-term option for the team with three years of eligibility remaining.
Henry becomes the fifth receiver to transfer to the Owls for the 2024 season, joining the likes of Caleb Coombs from Marshall, George Johnson III from UMass, Joseph Young from Coffeyville Community College, and Marlyn Johnson from Buffalo.
