Midweek college baseball is upon us and the first installment of this action comes with a historic South Florida rivalry. Miami will venture up to Boca Raton and FAU Baseball Stadium for what should be an exciting matchup between two undefeated teams. Coming off of a sweep against the Delaware Blue Hens, the Owls will look to tally a win against a power four program, before welcoming in UConn this upcoming weekend.
The Owls bats are hot coming off of a series sweep. They outscored Delaware 35-5, limiting the Blue Hens to just one run in the final two games. The pitching staff has been dominant, and so have the bats as well. Production is coming from seemingly everywhere, from Seniors all the way down to Freshman.
Senior Jake Millan has led the way for the Owls to open up the 2025 season. Out of FAU players who have started three games so far this season, Millan leads the Owls in batting average, OPS, slugging percentage, and doubles. Redshirt-Freshman John Martinez made a statement in his debut weekend for FAU, recording three doubles of his own on five hits. Freshman Kyle Boylston surged onto the scene with a massive weekend. In two games played, the two-sport star recorded six hits, three being doubles, good for an .857/.875/1.286 slashline. The offense has been clicking from top to bottom, perfect timing for the Hurricanes.

The pitching staff, the bullpen in particular, was lights out in their series sweep against Delaware. The bullpen only gave up a pair of runs the entire series. Their depth showed, as Head Coach John McCormack was able to utilize 12 arms out of the bullpen across the entire series.
For the Hurricanes, they’re also coming off of an opening series sweep against Niagara. Not the most well known program, Niagara made the NCAA Tournament last year. The Hurricanes outscored Niagara 35-3 in their sweep this past weekend. A name to watch is Sophomore Daniel Cuvet. One of the premiere bats in the ACC, Cuvet hit for a .351/.429/.736 slashline in 2024. He also slugged 24 home runs in his 57 game campaign last season.
The two start their season-series tomorrow night, where the home team has emerged victorious in the last nine matchups. The Owls will look to make that ten in a row, to advance to 4-0 on the season before their next series this weekend.
