Owl Notables
Coach John McCormack has to like what he has seen from his newly assembled 2025 group of Owls thus far. On the mound the team is performing ahead of last seasons early showings with an impressive overall ERA of just 1.25 while holding the opposition to just .151 hitting.
Two returners and three newcomers highlight was has been a productive offensive line-up for Florida Atlantic through four contests.
Leading the way offensively is newcomer Kyle Boylston, who checks into this week’s action with a .609 AVG, 3 RBI .909 SLG%, and 3 steals. He is followed by fellow newcomer John Martinez (photo above, .538 AVG, 4 RBI) and returner Jake Millan (photo below.467 AVG, 7 RBI, .933 SLG%).

Collectively, the Owls are netting a .340 mark at the plate, and have 15 doubles on the early season to go along with four homeruns.
After posting a massive surge of weekend runs against Delaware dropped off in their inaugural season meeting against Miami. But they proved to be a patient bunch, earning a gutty 2-1 come from behind win before a healthy crowd of onlookers on Tuesday night that was fueled by seven walks.
Senior catcher / infielder John Schroeder and shortstop Brando Leroux have yet to get things going, but could certainly use this weekend’s series to break out and provide more overall production for the team.
Coach McCormack will stay with the same rotation the Owls used against Delaware, but has indicated that the lineup will remain a work in progress with some tinkering to continue for the near future.
This noted, once might expect the following come first pitch tomorrow night:
C Ayden Garcia
1B Jake Millan
2B John Martinez
SS Brando Leroux
3B Nick Romano
RF Kyle Boylston
CF James Lipsey
LF John Schroeder
FAU will hit the road for the first time in 2025 at the conclusion of this weekend’s series to face in state opponent Central Florida.
Huskie Notables
UConn has posted six straight NCAA Tournament appearances.
And while looking to keep the streak alive this year, things haven’t started the way they have hoped for so far. The team is fresh off a tropical adventure to Puerto Rico where they began the 2025 campaign 0-3 having tallied losses to Stetson 6-10, Missouri 7-11, and Penn State 6-7.
Obviously run production did not present as much of issue as did their pitching performance, which has netted a 7.56 ERA so far.
Four Huskies find themselves hitting at .300 or better, with the quartet led by infielders Grant MacArthur (.462, 3RBI) and Ryan Daniels (.455, 4RBI, .727 SLG%).

With four straight league titles under their belt as well, the team was picked by league coaches to finish atop the Big East conference earning seven-of-eight votes.
Righty pitcher Ian Cooke was tabbed as the Preseason Pitcher of the Year, and first baseman Maddix Dalena received Preseason Player of the Year recognition. Overall, six Huskies land on the Preseason All-Big-East Team.
Despite the recent results, the Huskies are a solid ball club and will present a formidable marker for the Owls as they continue to realize what they are capable of after a injury riddled 2024 stint.
