In year one, FAU Men’s Basketball Coach John Jakus showed that he can develop talent and in year 2 he will get to showcase that again, as FAU has landed former 4 star recruit, USC transfer Isaiah Elohim via the transfer portal.
Elohim, a 6’5 Combo G is a Chatsworth, California native and originally committed to play for Eric Musselman at Arkansas last season before eventually following him to USC, where he played in 18 games, averaging just 2.1 PPG, but making 59% of his field goals. Although his role was limited last season, Elohim showed flashes of his potential including an 11 point performance, with 2 rebounds and a steal against Purdue on 2/7 where he was also perfect from the field.
Elohim was a highly touted 4 star recruit out of Sierra Canyon High School in Chatsworth California, turning down offers from Kentucky, Kansas and Michigan to play for Eric Musselman and USC. Described by Eric Bossi of 247 Sports as a “A physically strong and tough wing,” Elohim is a solid scorer at the rim and showcased that, along with his pesky defense in his senior year at Sierra Canyon, where he averaged 12.8 points, 5.6 rebounds and 1.1 steals per game.

Elohim heads to FAU with a boatload of untapped potential and gives John Jakus an intriguing option at either the 1 or 2 guard position. Although the Owls were hit hard with transfer portal departures, Jakus has brought in talent to replace what was lost and the goal now will be to develop Elohim and other new additions so they can build on their success from year one.
With the addition of Elohim, FAU now sits at 6 open scholarships, having added Maxim Logue earlier this week in the Portal, and seeing departures of Ken Evans Jr (Graduation), Kyky Tandy (Graduation), Kaleb Glenn (Portal), Matas Vokietaitis (Portal), Tre Carroll (Portal), Leland Walker (Portal), Jack Johnson (Portal) and Jakel Powell (Portal).
