Men’s Basketball Adds Three for 2019-20 Season

FAU Coach Dusty May (photo) has announced the signing of three student-athletes. Kenan Blackshear, Carrington McCaskill and Dardan Kapiti will join the Owls for the 2019-20 season. “We are extremely excited to add three high character, hard-working, well-coached and talented young men to our program,” said May. “We wanted to add to the foundation that was laid with last spring’s signing class and we feel like we did that.” Blackshear is a 6-5 guard from Orlando, Florida, who is expected to help Jones High School contend for a 5A state title. Both of his parents played at Stetson. His father, Kerry, graduated as the school’s all-time leading scorer and his mother, Lamila is one of the top women’s players in Hatter history. His older brother Kerry Jr. currently plays at Virginia Tech. “Kenan is a big, versatile guard who comes from a strong basketball family, is capable of playing multiple positions and has a very high ceiling,” commented May. A 6-7 forward from Renaissance High School in Detroit, McCaskill has a chance at winning Detroit Public School League Player of the Year this season. “Carrington is a long, athletic versatile forward who can play multiple positions and really fits our style of play,” noted May. “He can play above the rim offensively and can greatly impact the game on the defensive end. He’s one of the most athletic players we saw this summer.” Kapiti is a 6-10 post player who attends The Rock School in Gainesville. Kapiti is a member of the Kosovo men’s national team, and is expected to bolster the Owls’ frontcourt. “Dardan is as hard-working and physical a player as we’ve recruited,” commented May. “He’s a consummate team player and will make an immediate impact with his energy and passion. He has the unique ability to be a shot blocker and capable perimeter shooter. We think he compliments Kenan and Carrington very well.” “All three players fit what we are looking for, which is a strong desire to improve and the drive to make Florida Atlantic a Conference USA contender, but more importantly, all three are wonderful young men.” Related Links: 2018-19 Florida Atlantic Men’s Basketball Schedule – FAU Owl’s Nest FAU Men’s Basketball vs UCF Box Score 11-11-18 – FAU Owl’s Nest FAU Men’s Basketball vs Florida Tech Box Score 11-7-18 – FAU Owl’s Nest 2018-19 FAU Men’s Basketball Media Day Notables – FAU Owl’s Nest Load ‘Em Up – FAU Owl’s Nest
