Florida Atlantic football has finalized their 2025 schedule with the addition of an in-state FCS school. FAU has come to an agreement with Florida A&M University to fill the final open slot on their schedule and the two will meet on Saturday September 6th at Flagler Credit Union Stadium, in Boca Raton, Florida with a time to be determined.
This is the second meeting all-time between the two schools, as the last meeting came in October of 2004 with FAU coming out on top 38-8. 2004 was the 4th season in FAU history and the matchup with FAMU came from Bragg Memorial Stadium in Tallahassee and was highlighted by 276 team rushing yards as the Owls ran all over the rattlers en route to a dominating victory.
In 2025, FAU will face off against Maryland and FIU on the road to start their non-conference slate and then they will close it out with back to back home games against FAMU and UConn. The conference portion of the schedule will feature road games with Navy, Tulane, Rice and USF, and home matchups against UAB, ECU, Memphis and Tulsa.
Half of the Owls AAC opponents qualified for a bowl game in 2024, and with 2 tough matchups against Maryland and UConn in the non-con, FAU’s path to bowl eligibility will be met with some difficult opponents. Although Zach Kittley will have his fair share of challenging matchups in year 1 at the helm, if the Owls can make it to a bowl game amidst this gauntlet of a schedule it will be a major achievement in year 1.
Looking ahead to the 2026 season, FAU has agreed to a home matchup with FIU and road game with USF, the latter having been worked out prior to the Owls move to the AAC. In 2027 the Owls will head back to FIU for another road matchup, currently the final scheduled installment of the Shula Bowl and they will also take on Missouri in Columbia (MO), the first of 3 scheduled matchups between the two schools. In 2028, the only scheduled game to this point is FAU heading to UCF for a road matchup, while 2029 has no scheduled games as of yet, in 2030, FAU has road games against both Missouri and Iowa and lastly in 2031 FAU is scheduled to host Missouri.
With the 2025 schedule now finalized, the next move on the scheduling front will be filling out matchups over the next couple of years and with some already intriguing matchups on the docket between, Iowa, Missouri and UCF, it will be interesting to see how Brian White and Co. go about filling out the rest of the non-conference games.
