FAU Football’s Anderson, Burton, and Lewis Sign NFL Contracts

Florida Atlantic football’s Evan Anderson, Je’Quan Burton and Kobe Lewis have been extended the opportunity to continue their football playing careers at the NFL level. The duo of Anderson and Burton, both hail from Orland and who both wore #8 in their final season with the Owls, become the 61st and 62nd FAU players to extend their playing careers at the professional level. While Lewis becomes the 63rd FAU player to do so. They will join 10 former Owls currently under contract and vying for a 2024 NFL roster spot. Anderson came to Florida Atlantic as a true freshman in 2020, saw action in 39 games as a nose tackle and recorded 145 total tackles, including 20 tackles for a loss of which seven were credited as sacks. Anderson will begin his journey with the San Francisco 49ers, following in the footsteps of former Owls Keith Reaser (2014) and Azeez Al-Shaair (2019). Burton came to Florida Atlantic in 2021 as a junior college transfer. Donning an FAU uniform for three seasons, he played in 39 games, recording 84 receptions for 1,277 career receiving yards. Added to Burton’s resume are nine touchdown receptions and 25 kick returns for a total of a career total of 483 yards. Burton was extended the opportunity by the Miami Dolphins, who gave similar opportunities to FAU’s David Hinds (2013) and Greg Joseph (2018). Lewis played one season with the Owls and was applauded as a team leader. Lewis saw action in 11 2023 games, carried the ball 84 times for a total of 406 yards and had three scores. He added 18 receptions for 100 yards and was credited with four kick returns for a total of 91 yards. Lewis will make the cross country trek to Seattle to work with the Seahawks as has Brandin Bryant (2016), BJ Emmons (2021) and John Mitchell (2021) CURRENT NFL PLAYERS Azeez Al-Shaair (’15-’18) Houston Texans (LB), Harrison Bryant (’16-’19) Las Vegas Raiders (TE), Trey Hendrickson (’13-’16) Cincinnati Bengals (DE), Greg Joseph (’14-’17) Green Bay Packers (PK), James Pierre (’17-’19) Washington Commanders (DB), Devin “Motor” Singletary (’16-’18) New York Giants (RB), Brandon Walton (’16-’19) Tampa Bay Buccaneers (OL), Zaire Mitchell-Paden (’21) Cleveland Browns (TE) (PS), Herb Miller (’15-’18) Buffalo Bills (DB) (PS), Zyon Gilbert (’17-’21) Green Bay Packers (DB) (PS)Je’Quan Burton ALL-TIME FAU PLAYERS SIGNING PROFESSIONALLY Brian Pare Free Agent, Chicago Bears (2004), Chris Laskowski Free Agent, Indianapolis Colts (2005), Kevin Fischer Free Agent, Tampa Bay Buccaneers (2005), Jared Allen Free Agent, Tampa Bay Buccaneers (2005), Quentin Swain NFL Europe (Berlin) (2005), Willie Hughley Free Agent, Cleveland Browns (2006), Nello Faulk Free Agent, Jacksonville Jaguars (2007), Mark Myers CFL (2007/Jets 2008), Lawrence Gordon CFL (2007), Taheem Acevedo Free Agent, Kansas City Chiefs (2007), Casey McGahee CFL (2007), Troy Pindell CFL (2007), Jervonte Jackson Free Agent, Philadelphia Eagles (2008), Frantz Joseph Free Agent, Oakland Raiders (2008), Jason Harmon Free Agent, Jacksonville Jaguars (2009), William Rose Free Agent, Tennessee Titans (2009), Rusty Smith 6th Round, Tennessee Titans (2010), Rob Housler 3rd Round, Arizona Cardinals (2011), Lester Jean Free Agent, Tennessee Titans (2011), Michael Lockley Free Agent, Jacksonville Jaguars (2011), Alfred Morris 6th Round, Washington Redskins (2012), Kevin Cyrille Free Agent, Minnesota Vikings (2012), David Hinds Free Agent, Miami Dolphins (2013), Keith Reaser 5th Round, San Francisco 49ers (2014), Randell Johnson 7th Round, Buffalo Bills (2014), Adarius Glanton Free Agent, Carolina Panthers (2014), Damian Parms Free Agent, Atlanta Falcons (2014), D’Joun Smith 3rd Round, Indianapolis Colts (2015), Andrae Kirk Free Agent, Arizona Cardinals (2015), Lucky Whitehead Free Agent, Dallas Cowboys (2015), Brandin Bryant Free Agent, Seattle Seahawks (2016), Trevon Coley Free Agent, Baltimore Ravens (2016), Sharod Neasman Free Agent, Atlanta Falcons (2016), Cre’von LeBlanc Free Agent, New England Patriots (2016), Jenson Stoshak Free Agent, Carolina Panthers (2016), Martese Jackson Free Agent, Toronto Argonauts (2017), Trey Hendrickson 3rd Round, New Orleans Saints (2017), Dillon DeBoer Free Agent, Los Angeles Chargers (2017), Tyler Cameron Free Agent, Baltimore Ravens (2017), Shalom Ogbonda Free Agent, New York Jets (2017), Tevin Homer Free Agent, Washington Redskins (2017), Buddy Howell Free Agent, Houston Texans (2018), Greg Joseph Free Agent, Miami Dolphins (2018), Herb Miller Free Agent, Kansas City Chiefs (2018), Andrew Soroh Free Agent, Kansas City Chiefs (2018), Azeez Al-Shaair Free Agent, San Francisco 49ers (2019), Devin Singletary 3rd Round, Buffalo Bills (2019), Kerrith Whyte 7th Round, Chicago Bears (2019), Harrison Bryant 4th Round, Cleveland Browns (2020), James Pierre Free Agent, Pittsburgh Steelers (2020), Rashad Smith Free Agent, Chicago Bears (2020), Brandon Walton Free Agent, Buffalo Bills (2020), Leighton McCarthy Free Agent, Tampa Bay Buccaneers (2021), BJ Emmons Seattle Seahawks (2021), Leighton McCarthy Free Agent, Tampa Bay Buccaneers (2021), Caliph Brice Free Agent, Green Bay Packers (2022), Zyon Gilbert Free Agent, New York Giants (2022), John Mitchell Free Agent, Seattle Seahawks (2022), Zaire Mitchell-Paden Free Agent, Cleveland Browns (2022), Desmond Noel Free Agent, Cincinnati Bengals (2022), Evan Anderson Free Agent, San Francisco 49ers (2024), Je’Quan Burton Free Agent, Miami Dolphins (2024), Kobe Lewis Free Agent, Seattle Seawhawks (2024).
