Florida Atlantic Football lands former Indiana OL Vince Fiacable via transfer portal

Florida Atlantic Football made an important addition to their offensive line through the transfer portal on Friday afternoon. Former Indiana OL and 3-Star Recruit Vince Fiacable announced he would be spending his 5th season of College Football with Zach Kittley and FAU.

The 6 ‘4 315 pound Fort Wayne, Indiana native has spent all of his career at Indiana and although this upcoming season will technically be his Redshirt Senior season, he could potentially have 2 years of eligibility after missing last season with an injury. Fiacable has seen action in 4 games during his time in Bloomington, 2 a piece in 2022 and 2023, including against Ohio State in 2022.

Fiacable was a highly touted recruit coming out of Bishop Dwenger High School in 2020, as he was ranked the 10th best prospect in Indiana and the No. 38 offensive guard nationally by ESPN. In the transfer portal, Fiacable was rated a 3 star recruit per ON3 Sports and had power conference interest, but ultimately decided to transfer to FAU.

According to Fiacable, the decision to transfer to FAU was based on veterans around the program who have bought into the Zach Kittley offense, noting that their belief in Kittley transcended to him.

“Seeing the way the players believe and bought into Coach Kittley, especially guys that have been there for a long time, was what really made me want to go to FAU,” Fiacable said.

Last season in Bloomington, Fiacable was part of an IU team which turned the program around under first year head coach Curt Cignetti, turning a team that was 3-9 in 2023, to 11-2 in 2024 with a spot in the college football playoffs. Although the NIL resources in Bloomington may be a bit more than what FAU has, the Owls are in a similar situation that IU was in heading into last season, as Kittley will be looking to turn a program around that has had consecutive losing seasons.

On his visit, Fiacable noticed the similarities to what the Hoosiers had to do in turning the program around last season and that was another factor that led him to Boca Raton.

“It reminded me a lot of everyone rallying behind the new staff at Indiana. I just knew I had to be apart of it,” Fiacable said.

Fiacable joins an O-Line room which has seen only 2 additions through the transfer portal this offseason in former Bethune Cookman OL Vince Forney and former Louisville OL Madden Sanker. There will be a chance for Fiacable to earn a starting role on this line over the summer and fall camps, as the line wasn’t finalized during Spring Ball, so look for him to potentially make a push for a tackle or guard spot.
