Florida Atlantic football made another addition to their offensive line through the transfer portal on Saturday afternoon. Former SMU OL and 3 star recruit Qae’Shon Sapp announced he would be transferring to FAU for his 4th season of college football.
The 6 ‘4 304 pound Leesburg, Georgia native spent last season at SMU, appearing in one game for the Mustangs before opting to enter the transfer portal after Spring ball on April 16th. Prior to transferring to SMU for his redshirt-sophomore season, Sapp spent the first 2 seasons of his collegiate career at Florida State, appearing in 2 games across 2 seasons where he was teammates with current FAU OL Daughtry Richardson.
Coming out of Lee County High School, Sapp was a 4 star recruit and was ranked as the 12th best offensive guard nationally and 25th overall prospect in Georgia by Rivals. Sapp visited Florida, Ole Miss and Auburn, while also turning down offers from Louisville, NC State and Arizona State to attend Florida State in 2021.

After one season at SMU, Sapp opted to enter the transfer portal on April 16th and it took less than 2 weeks in the portal for him to commit to FAU. The quick decision for Sapp had a lot to do with his former teammate Daughtry Richardson, as the two grew close during their time together at FSU and a chance to reunite with Richardson was something that Sapp couldn’t turn down.
“What led me here to FAU and back to Florida was my brother Daughtry and the relationship we had together since High School/FSU and just him wanting me to be great, so I came here to be apart of what he’s trying to build in this program as a player and a leader,” Sapp said.
So far throughout his collegiate career, Sapp hasn’t been able to crack the top of the depth chart, however this year at FAU he’ll head into Summer/Fall camp with a chance to earn a starting role. That, combined with a chance to play alongside one of his closest friends is something that Sapp will look forward to once the season kicks off in Maryland on August 30th.
“I’m looking forward to the season and just going out there to win games, have fun and play alongside my brother,” Sapp said.
Sapp becomes the 4th addition to the offensive line room through the transfer portal this offseason and 7th overall, joining recent portal addition Vinny Fiacable, as well as Madden Sanker and Vince Forney who joined earlier this spring through the portal and freshman Nikolas Turner, Rain Banick and Landon Rapkiewicz.
