The secondary of the Florida Atlantic football team is going to look quite different when the 2025 class arrives, with the Owls recently gaining a talented recruit in Zion Paret. Zion Paret Defensive Back 6-0, 180 lbs Miami, FL Miami Central High School Paret announced his commitment to the Owls on Monday evening, shortly after making his official visit this weekend. He has been a journeyman throughout his high school career. Following stops at North Florida Christian and Miami Northwestern, he transferred to Miami Central where he will play his senior year. In 2022, he totaled 43 tackles, 10 pass breakups, and four interceptions at North Florida Christian. He would then rack up 18 tackles, five pass breakups, and an interception the following year. He has also shown that he can be a capable receiver in the offense. During his sophomore year, he made four catches for a total of 109 yards and two touchdowns. Rated as a three-star defender with an 85 score on 247Sports, he is ranked the 111th-best player at his position and the 158th-best in the state of Florida. His composite score of 0.8639 has him listed at 80th among cornerbacks and 116th in the state of Florida. “Hes a sticky and competitive corner with plus instincts that does an admirable job of mirroring and matching at the line of scrimmage with his slick hips,” said 247Sports Director of Scouting Andrew Ivins. He chose the Owls over intriguing offers from multiple FBS schools such as Oregon, Nebraska, Louisville, Pittsburgh, SMU, Tulane, USF, and UCF among others. Paret is the eighth member of the Owls’ 2025 class, joining Seth Chestnut, Nigel Nelson, Hector Chavez, Damon Allen, Robert Lee, Jordan Magwood, and Cameron Gooden. His versatility and competitive edge make him a strong fit for FAU’s defense, where his ability to read the game and make crucial interceptions will be invaluable.
